Instead of falling by the wayside, radio has been rejuvenated in the face of web-based and digital media technology.

In this program, you will be introduced to key elements in the radio program-production and broadcasting process across multiple platforms, namely

  • Pre-production & preparation (researching and developing content for radio programs, analysing listenership data to determine timing and content of programs, identifying the various devices, apps and technologies available to host radio programs).
  • Recording & broadcast (techniques for conducting live interviews and hosting programs effectively, techniques for developing and applying a communication style suitable for the relevant program, and to establish your own brand)
  • Post-production (skills for editing recorded program contents into digestible clips, managing contents in line with current broadcasting and censorship guidelines, navigating the use of licensed or copyright material)

At the end of this program, you will be expected to develop and produce your own multiple-platform radio program, and identify both the profile of target listeners for this program and devices or apps required for hosting the program across several platforms.

Target audience

This program is intended for those in the general public with an interest in the production and hosting aspects of radio broadcasting. The program is particularly suitable for those aspiring to enter (or are currently in) the media and creative industries looking to enhance their understanding of radio broadcasting.

Course details and duration

This program runs for a total of 24 hours (3 full days or 6 half days), and is offered in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
